Real Life Stories Wanted By Cat Welfare Society
Cat Welfare Society (CWS) is inviting its members, volunteers and members of the public to tell us their true life stories about how cats have made a meaningful and heartfelt impact on their lives. CWS hopes to record 10-12 of these short stories to compile into a book, which would be published and sold, with all proceeds going to CWS.
In response to the above ad for cat stories, i wrote my very own story of Cocoa, aptly named "The Story of Cocoa" (HAHA). I'm usually quite shy when it comes to showcasing my writing (with the exception of this blog because i'm free to use whatever profanity or informal language as i wish). Not sure if anyone is interested in reading the story, but i hope it gets chosen so you people can actually BUY the book and at least generate some fund for the cat welfare society! Anyway, here's the first paragraph:
"I first saw Cocoa when she was barely 6 weeks old and I didnt like the sight of her at all. Some boys saw her drifting aimlessly in the canal outside our school and rescued her out of goodwill. I remembered her as this scruffy-looking black thing, wet and emaciated, walking precariously on top of one of our canteen tables. It wasnt so much that I didnt like cats, but I guess were all too pampered by beautiful pictures of adorable, fluffy calendar kittens. I wasnt really a cat person to begin with and to tell the truth, I thought she was the worst-looking kitten Ive ever seen in my life... ..."
That's all for now, folks! I don't really think my story is good enough though, because i'm sure many other people have been touched (and scratched and bitten too) by a cat in more significant ways than Cocoa has touched me, but nevertheless she still has been an inspiration to me, and will continue to be (together with Mr. Chester!) :)
