Dentist

The Perils Of Being A Dentist

I got to know a dentistry undergraduate the day before my dentistry exam. Got a few "tips" on tooth extraction which proved to be useless afterall. We had about an hour to extract one molar and one premolar from a cadavar. I freaked out totally (especially after the burr screwed up on me and refused to budge even though i revved it like i'd rev a Ferrari) and just lost it. Following that, it was disastrous. I fractured the tooth root of the carnassial that i was supposed to extract, which made me even more frustrated. My periosteal elevator slipped a couple of times and now i've got a few more cuts and gashes to add to my list of battle wounds. Fortunately, the whole fiasco ended with a perfect cadence (except for the little glitches here and there). I managed to successfully extract what i had to extract and breathed a sigh of relief when the alarm clock (which was timing us) went off.

I'm NEVER EVER gonna be a dentist.

Mum came over for a visit yesterday. I was really happy to see her because i was getting really sick of eating Aussie food. I swear i've contracted some sort of anorexia lately because the sight of food makes me sick. It makes me feel better fantasising about nasi lemak (i want otah!!!!) and hokkien prawn mee. I really can't wait to go home to Singapore and devour some authentic hawker food.

I was stoked by this huge tray of Ham Jin Pang that laid before my eyes at Canning Vale Market this morning. I bought one but decided i was too sick to finish it, because it somehow reminded me of someone i love......
