puberty
Puberty blues
Having a conversation with Dad in the morning never fail to perk me up, no matter how tired and unmotivated i feel. There's always so much warmth in his voice and i just feel like giving him a big bear hug when i speak to him. Where i come from, we're a pretty close-knitted family. Over these years, Mum and Dad have showered me with unconditional love and i must admit that i've taken it for granted sometimes. (We all do, don't we? INGRATES.)
This morning, Dad told me something really hilarious. Apparently, Chester has been whining and whimpering a lot at night (while he's wide awake). Dad tried to mimick the noises in order for me decipher what that was all about, but i was totally clueless. Almost embarassingly, Dad asked me if Chester was approaching puberty ("qing1 chun1 qi1", as he calls it) and looking for a mate (with his mating calls)! He then went on to tell me, "Eh, ni3 kuai4 dian3 hui2 lai2 yan1 ta1 leh!" (rough translation: you faster come back and castrate him leh!)
I laughed and laughed till my belly ached.
Later, Mum asked me how can Chester be in puberty when he's only 1 year old. I told her he could probably father a litter a couple of months ago and she seemed a little aghast at my suggestion. I love teasing Mum and Dad with my corrupted sense of humour. Last year, i showed them a 3-minute video of Chester hungrily humping his little purple teddy bear and laughed my ass off as they went "eewwwww"..."yeeeeeee". Haha!
