Beautiful Nose

Beautiful Nose

My nose is bright pink and peeling, all thanks to this goddamn flu virus that's bugging me now. I slapped on so much moisturiser after my shower, i feel like a greasy roti-prata now. Heh.

I came back from Margaret River this afternoon, tired but satisfied. It's been a while since the whole family spent time together, so every moment was really precious to me. We used to tour a lot as a family when i was much younger. But as we grew up and had more commitments (sis got married and i jetted off to Oz), being able to go somewhere together as a family gradually became more of a luxury than a routine.

I wasn't in top form for the trip, sniffing and sneezing all the way, but i had a great time nonetheless. We stayed at a farm and being around the farm animals brought back a lot of good (erm, and some not-so-good) memories for me. I remembered how i witnessed the miracle of Life and helped Doug pull out a female Angus calf years ago. The calf was christened after me thereafter. I also remembered how i witnessed the hands of Death squeezing every ounce of life out of Shang as i gave him the lethal dose. I will always remember Shang (not just because we share the same first 4 letters in our names), but because he was the first aggressive horse i had to deal with, yet he grew to trust me and i grew to love him so dearly. Sadly, he wasn't lucky enough to return to the race course. I never realised i was an outside person until i started working with cows, sheep and horses. Being embraced by nature just nourishes me deep inside. For some reason, my heart aches just thinking of the possibility that i may never need to put my knowledge for production animal health to use once i leave vet school.

Tomorrow is the big day. I will officially become Dr. Dolittle and take The Oath. Everything feels so surreal, all ups and downs i've been through these 5 years. I've had this dream for the past 20 years, and now i'm living it at last. At long last.

I will write more about my trip later, and will probably post pictures as well. For now, here's a shot of Busselton beach for you. Enjoy.
