Fun In The Sun(Tec)
Dad and I spent the whole day shopping at Suntec. I love shopping at massive supermarkets like Carrefour because for some weird reason, i feel happy seeing shelfloads of groceries. Colourful packaging, zany designs...it's almost like a housewife's paradise, i must say. Uhm, and MY paradise too.
Anyway, i was supposed to get a new bookshelf from Carrefour to house all the books i've accumulated over the past 5 years of study. Unfortunately, the shelf i wanted was out of stock and i'll have to wait till Friday when the next shipment of stock arrives. Bugger, bugger, bugger!
However, we didn't leave Suntec empty-handed of course. Dad got a DVD player for the living room and i got myself a Jap-movie VCD entitled "Quill". I think it's dubbed in Mandarin and it features the voices of big stars like Shu Qi and...erm that's all i remember. The Chinese title of the movie is "dao3 mang2 quan3 xiao3 Q" (go figure!). Apparently, it's about the adventures of a Labrador puppy whose destiny is to be a guide dog for the blind . I think it'll be similar to "Hachi" (who's seen that one?) and i have no doubts about needing tonnes of tissue when i watch it.
Yesterday, Beng and I finally sent all the food we collected (for the tidal wave victims) to SPH. I'm quite happy we managed to get quite a bit of donation from people all over (kudos to my sis and Beng!). My sister even received calls from people she didn't know at all!
Anyway, it was raining when we got there but there were volunteers who sheltered us with brollies and helped us unload the bags of food from the boot. I kept apologising profusely (classic ah lian's "paiseh paiseh") because the rain wasn't that heavy and there was really no need to shelter us out of the car and stuff.
Beng said that it's really heart-warming seeing so many people united to do their bit for the tsunami victims and i can't agree more. Beng has always been a bit of an ass and i'm quite surprised he offered his help (whatever ulterior motive behind it doesn't matter). I was pleasantly surprised when he told me that he actually felt happy being involved in this donation drive. When he said those words, the expression on his face was a classic Kodak moment.
I think we all need to count our lucky stars everyday for being blessed with a safe haven to live in (nevermind the COE, traffic jams and rude aunties that jostle and push on the mrt lah).
Have you counted your lucky stars today?
p.s. What's a good software to use for blogging in Chinese? Haven't had the chance to ask Mr. C2pid (eh did you win the moblog contest huh?), so someone please help me out here.
