The Pianist
Honestly, i haven't seriously played the piano since i was 14, so having to play in Victoria Concert Hall sure sounds like a feat.
For the past 2 weeks, i have been practising dad's song religiously. The arpeggios are really killing my finger, but i'm slowly getting back my former touch. I'm glad my fingers are not failing me yet and it sure feels good to have music flowing in my veins again. My chest hurts abit while i play though but once the music kicks in, i forget about the pain momentarily. That's the magic music does.
I went to Dad's vocal coach's house to practice today. She was such a great help, especially with the dynamics and nuances. I started out shaky and being quite afraid of playing the wrong notes, but she kept telling me to throw the apprehension away and let the feelings flow. I was pleasantly surprised and secretly elated when she commented that my playing is really mesmerising, more so than Dad's singing. HAHA! But yeah, Dad's voice is superb no doubt.
Playing all corrent notes doesn't necessarily make you a brilliant pianist. Playing with your heart and letting yourself go with the flow is what makes the difference.
