Airy Fairy Tales
During the ride home in his car, it just suddenly dawned upon me what a fairy tale really is, and how we've forgotten what it really entails.
We tend to think of a fairy tale as an epitome of perfection - the reason why most of us scoff at the idea. We think fairy tales don't exist in the real world because nothing is perfect in reality.
But wait, who said anything about fairy tales being perfect, unflawed and just a story that exists only in utopia?
We forgot how Cinderella lost her glass slippers, how the handsome prince was trapped in the body of a Beast, how Snow White was poisoned by the Wicked Witch, how a tragedy is always interwoven into each and every fairy tale.
It just dawned upon me that a fairy tale IS a fairy tale because the prince and his princess always overcome whatever trials and tribulation that stands in the way of their happiness, with love, togetherness and perseverance. The "fairy-tale-happily-ever-after-ending" doesn't come without a price. The essence of a fairy tale is the hard-earned happiness, and that is probably why when it's finally time for the happy ending finale, it is often so so so so fucking sweet.
What storms can't the prince and princess weather together? After all, they've tide through Life's harshest tempest and are now basking in the hues of the long-awaited rainbow.
