Omigawd. I love this song so much i'm bugging Dan to download it to his Pod so we can play it in the car and i can sing along to it! High time i retaliate, after putting up with Dan's incessant *nanananana* from that jiggy Will Smith song and his warped rendition of*if i ain't got yoouuuuuuuuuuu*.

Apparently this song first appeared in 2001 on a German children's TV show named "Die Sendung mit der Maus" (The Show With The Mouse), BUT it only became really, really popular over the internet late 2004. Apparently, "this phenomenon claims to refute the notion that sharing music over the internet is harmful to sales figures. The huge commercial success of Schnappi may not have been possible without P2P networks, as well as news of the song being passed via word of mouth."

The person who came up with the theory must be a pirate. Confirm.

Different versions of the song have been recorded since. They include an English version by DJ Damien, a French version "Crocky le Petit Crocodile", and a soon-to-be-released Japanese version "Togetogeshi, Chiisai Wani", another German but techno version by Dynamite, and beat this, a Swedish version by a "humour metal" (what the fuck is wrong with the genre classification these days?!) band, Black Ingvars ala heavy metal style with Rammstein-like vocals!
