Are You One Of Them?

If there's something i absolutely cannot stand, it's people who are passive and don't live by any principles. I know i'm not, for sure. There are things i'll definitely say NO to and there're things that will make me sit up and react all time, no matter how many times it's happened before, under any circumstance.

For example, i will never walk pass and ignore someone who bullies an animal. Even if it was just a kid boo-ing or stamping his feet at a kitten.

Last weekend, i had a really bad experience with a groomer who hit my dog. The reason being, the dog was barking and was "too noisy" when we left. People around me had mixed reactions. My cousin said i should have slapped the man. Honestly, i would if i don't do what i do for a living. If i had slapped the guy, the case would probably be on me assualting someone else, rather than someone else abusing my dog! General consensus is i should pursue the case. Not that i even need anyone to tell me so because knowing me, i wouldn't let this issue go so easily. I am just greatly disappointed by the fact (although i know i shouldn't be) that there are people who try to dissuade me by telling me that my attempts will be futile and telling me i wouldn't be able to make a difference.

The same thing happened when i approached many friends to send their appeal letters to the AGC after that freaking short sentence was passed on the psycho cat-killer. They shrugged it off because they assumed it was just a waste of time and effort but that's so not the point, is it?

The point is, i'm doing this (whether it's submitting a petition to the AGC or lodging a complaint against the dog groomer) because this is what i believe in. I believe a serial cat killer deserves much much more than an 8-week jail term and i also believe Chester's barking did not warrant the hitting. It's that simple. Legally, i don't think the grooming salon had the right to reject my request to enter the grooming parlour (while animals are being groomed inside) and neither do i think that man had the right to hit any animals that engage their services.

I wonder if the daily drone of Life has made everyone so worn out that no one gives a shit about anything else, except maybe getting more money (and rest, perhaps).

I remember being really livid when Dan and I encountered taxi drivers who wouldn't stop for our disabled students at HWA. When the letter i sent to the ST Forum was published, my then-boss came up to me and asked me if the same letter was written by me. I gave him the affirmative answer and his reply was a grave headshake coupled with the usual "tsk tsk tsk". I mean, what's the problem?

What is so bad about raising awareness on the difficulties disabled people face? Don't get it. I do it in a civil way, mind you. Even when i infuriated, i took time in explaining to the groomer why i didn't think it was necessary to hit any dog. And all the while, that man was just totally rude and obnoxious and was raising his voice at me!!!

Anyway, enough of this. I won't allow all this dog-hitting business (whether it's Chester or any other dog). Period.

But think about it, is there anything in your life that you stand and fight for? Are there things that you secretly frown upon but don't bother speaking up or standing up for anymore? Why not? Because you think it's "nevermind la, nothing will change whether i say or do anything or not."

Grrrr.

Oh, did i tell you the dog won me a DVD player last weekend?? When mum and dad praised him for being "clever", Chester and I just laughed out loud! Ok la, Chester didn't laugh, i did and it was only because the win involved nothing more than strutting his stuff around. No intelligence required! Omigawd, the dog's turning into a himbo! Hahaha!!

i think it is prefectly alright to stand up to what u believe, all u wanted was to protect chester, since u are paying for the service of the groomer...what u should do is to at least let ur contacts know about this lousy service.

You did the right thing. I have to admit that sometimes i suffer 'can't-be-botherness' when it comes to certain issues but in this situation, i would have chewed that bugger and spit him out. Nobody has a right to hit an animal simply becos it doesn't think like us humans!! reading the whole ordeal Chester and u had to go through just made me wanna punch something.

so idiotic, that groomer. i know for sure i wouldn't bring Chester back there but i also wanna make sure other dogs don't kena the same thing too.

so yah, now waiting to see if the relevant authorities will "investigate" this and give me a satisfactory answer or not.
