The King, His Mummy and Me!

That's me and S, telling Kingsley to 'SIT LAH'!!! (Check out our t-shirts from SPCA!) And look, S and I both have Papillios on and as S aptly puts it - Great minds think alike!!
Btw, The King turned 5 (erm right?) last week and Chester joined him for hashing last Saturday! It was our first hash (no Pauline, we didn't find any hash!! Haha!) and it was great going out into the open and just running with the whole dog pack (and human pack). Prior to that, i jokingly told some friends that i had to bring Chester to his friend's birthday celebration and they all laughed and commented i sounded like some mother who was bringing her son somewhere.
Dad reckons i'll be quite a strict mum next time but i'd like to think i'll be one that rewards my kids generously but dishes out punishment fairly as well. At least that's what i do with my furry kid now and he's turned out alright except for the occasional brawls with other dogs. Kinda embarrasing when it happens and it almost feels like my kid had beaten up someone else in school. But I suppose this is good prepping for the future when my human kid really wallops his classmate! Hahaha!
Paws In The Park was a blast and my first 'collaboration' with SPCA turned out fine. I met an old client there who remembered me as the one who 'let her take a picture with her dying cat in the consult room'. Great thing is, Baby (the supposedly dying cat) is doing fine now, even though she still suffers from a chronic kidney condition. Her owners were just glad that she survived the ordeal and is back to being the happy cat she is now. You know what? I think this makes me happy - making a difference in someone else's life by helping their furry friends. Being remembered for the deed and getting all that heartwarming words of thanks is a bonus!
If you haven't read 'Tuesdays With Morrie', go read it. I think it's really true that when you learn to love your community and share yourself with others, that's when you get true happiness. Not the superficial kind but the warm, fuzzy glow inside. Can't wait for my next event with the SPCA.

see.. my dad says that i'm slave to my dog now... cleaning, feeding, driving him.. disciplining him.. etc
i reckon this is excellent practice if you plan to have kids next time..
afterall.. you'd be slave to kids/family too..

oh.. and don't laugh at the packing of goodies bags for fellow doggie friends... you'd be packing for your kid's (human/dog) before long..

my dad says i ill-treat chester when i discipline him (and it's not like i even use the cane or what!). even when i was teaching chester to wait for his food when he was a puppy, i also kena from my dad!
so "grandfatherly" right?!
i can so foresee my father telling me that i shouldn't treat my kids this and that way next time!
btw, i thought the goodie bag was real cool! which cookies did you bake? (er i ate one of the bone-shaped ones though....shhhhh.)
3:19 PM
oh.. i baked the heart shaped ones made with chicken broth and mince pork.. and the lumps of banana wooffles.
hope chester enjoyed them.. minus the biscuit you took.. no wonder he kept the doggy handphone holder..
