Happy Camper!

How come holidays always seem to fly by at supersonic speed?! It's back to slaving and catching up on all the work i've proscratinated because yours truly got into the festive mood too soon! Oh well, there's always the weekend to look forward to.

This lunar new year is my last chance at being an ang-pow hoarder but unfortunately my loot wasn't all that substantial! Still, i look forward to being "promoted" (okay, maybe minus handing out red packets) and Becks also candidly reminded me that i'll be at her place having reunion dinner with the rest of her family (which is Dan's family) next year!

Just 2 days ago, i met up with my bestie and ended up talking about life, relationship and the impending big M (marriage la, not money). The prospects of being married is exciting to me even though now and then, friends around me feed me with horror stories on squabbles and conflict regarding money, chores and other stuff. I have no doubt we'll have to go through a similar adjustment period of living under the same roof and trudging through the multitude of problems like all other newlywed couples, but i have no doubt too that with love, we'll get through whatever obstacle, crisis, witch or ogre that come our way!

I don't ever want to fall into the trap of a self-fulfilling prophecy, which is why i always choose to be hopeful and optimistic about life and such. After all, life is too short and with the existence of mankind getting more tragic by the day, it's better to live for the moment and seize the day!!

Okay la, so much for my philosophy (or the lack of) on life, some more eye candy as promised:

Overdue picture of my valentine's day bouquet! The bear wore a tshirt which read "Love Me..." (front) and "Love you back" (back). I thought it was hilarious but maybe it's just me being lame.....

Birthday cakes to satisfy my sweet tooth! The chocolate cake was from my colleagues who made a futile attempt to punk me! I love this motley crew at my workplace and i'm just so thankful that they're here to make working life so much easier for me!

Next, the blackforest cake was from olkgal. Very very touched even though she kept telling me "no biggy no biggy". Even got to ta-pau her mum's famous yam abacus when i went to collect the cake! Kings tried really hard to get to the cake but poor boy didn't get any cos chocolates are a no-no for doggies *wags finger at Kings*!! Anyway, i'm supposed to put this disclaimer (under olkgal's request haha!) that the cake doesn't look as good as it should be because she bought the wrong ingredients (i think it was the chocolate...and then the cream melted or something). But i don't care la! It tasted great and i'm so glad i got to know a fabulous girl like her. :)

The cake with the chinese words are from my folks of course. In case you can't read, it says: "生日快乐, 平安喜乐" which means "happy birthday, peace and happiness". Simple words but definitely meaningful. Not money, not fame, not status in life.....just peace and happiness.

Just in case you were wondering how anyone could have 4 bloody birthday cakes in a year, nope it was just 3! The cute cake at the bottom was from my parents too, but that was in 2005! The cake was delivered to my workplace and it was definitely a hugeass surprise for me because i never expected them to pull such a stunt on me!! I just can't ever ever say enough to thank them for everything they've done for me except to live my life well and to do whatever makes them happy.

Love the card from Dan too and if it weren't because 5 pairs of eyes were staring at me when i was reading it, i would have started crying and getting really emo. And for eons, i've wanted to get another Baby G because the last one reeks of sweat and animals that don't bathe, now I've gotten a new one! No prize for guessing who goes shopping with me most and know what i hanker after! :P

All in all, it's heartwarming to know that so many people bothered. Even if it was just a simple gesture like an sms (my primary school friend whom i've just gotten in touch with recently actually remembers my birthday too and no, she didn't have friendster to remind her!!), i feel touched and so so so thankful that God has given me so many special angels to celebrate Life with!

I thought my birthday this year would be unexciting because of all the CNY celebration and what not, so it came as a big surprise how everyone still managed to get everything together to do this for me.
