Nearly Married!

Wedding Gown (Sentosa)

Last lap of our wedding preparations! We're expecting inevitable screw-ups here and there but we're also keeping in mind that we'll finally be united as one so who cares if the flower girl decides to run away or if the bridal studio/hotel fucks up!

A friend once told me that the wedding preps is indeed a test of the love between the soon-to-be-wedded couple. I must say that we have been quite chop-chop with a lot of stuff, probably because our taste, perception of beauty and opinion of what is neccessary (or not) is pretty similar. I'm glad we didn't end up strangling each other because of differing opinions or expectations and i hope this stays even after married life!

Last thursday, we headed to church to settle the floral decor. It was pretty easy because we both knew what kinda flowers we wanted. Or rather, Dan knows what flowers i like...no actually, he once told me that he didn't think any flower was befitting for me except roses...so i think my love for roses is a biased choice in a way! Heh! Anyway, we naturally chose my favourite cream and lilac roses (plus white lilies and greens and what-not as suggested by the floral designer). When she showed us her "portfolio", we were pretty impressed especially with the pictures of the woody/floral arch that towered above the couple chair. I initially didn't want it because of the added cost, but Dan liked it so much and deemed it so worthwhile that he immediately went to his car to retrieve his cheque book.

We later had a chat about it and found out both of us were more excited about the church wedding than the wedding dinner. I guess being united in front of the Lord is what matters most! And of course, the whole romantic, grand feel of being wedded in a church....*dreamy sigh*.....must be watch too much Channel 8 drama!!!! Muahahha!

I took the day off yesterday to run some errands and i must say - THIS IS THE LIFE MAN! Started the day with a pamper session, coffee at starbucks and 5 hours straight of hardcore shopping. Finally bought my wedding shoes because Mum nagged and nagged about me always being a cheapo and told me i'd better get good(read: expensive) shoes for the wedding. I know she means well and just wants her precious daughter to look her best but honestly, even if i had to marry Dan just wearing my tank top and cargo pants, with Chester rolling around in mud and smearing it all over us, i would still do.

Also got the classical CDs which had the songs for our procession and recession in the church! Haven't been to HMV in eons (we used to go there at least once a week when we were still schooling) so hanged around there for awhile checking out new CDs, including Dreamtheater's latest album. Not impressed though. Considering we were once hardcore DT fans and i even flew to London to watch them live, the quality of their music has deteriorated quite abit. Dan just made a remark that he'd rather be playing Linkin' Park in his car now than DT, so that says alot! Zipped around Taka and bought a dress from Future State at a steal and then hung around Kinokuniya looking at chick lit, dog books and music scores. Ended the evening meeting Dan at Tanjong Pagar and having yummilicious hakka food for dinner. I think we've been there at least 3-4 times this month already! Anyone who likes hakka food (think yam abacus, braised pork with bun, niang dou fu), this is the bomb!!!

Can't think of anyone else who appreciates hakka food except her and man, her mum makes great yam abacus! My mum has passed me her secret recipe too and if nothing goes wrong, i hope that during next year's reunion dinner, i can whip up a mean yam abacus dish for my husband and in-laws and whoever dares try!

So today is Saturday and i still haven't finished writing the wedding cards!!! I'll need to get the mass book done soon and then i'll have to mobilise the entire family to "assemble" each book together. 2 more weekends to go and it'll be the day!

Those who still haven't received the wedding invites, they're on their way i promise!!
