Yuuuuuuuum!

Nopes, i'm not craving for satays! This is just a picture i took during the christmas home party back in 2005 and in 4 months' time, it's gonna be christmas again!

Anyways, that's besides the point. I just need to talk about food now because i'm terribly hungry! Dinner will be at the famous XO fish head beehoon stall at Holland Village which apparently is one of Stefanie Sun's favourite eating place (erm, not that i care la). Other signature dishes there include "har jiong gai" (虾酱鸡) , "hei zo" (虾枣) and their toufu with XO sauce (complete with yummy golden mushrooms)! I love the fish head bee hoon too although i must admit that the XO one is a tad too strong for my liking and hence we always opt for the non-XO one. Definitely a must-try for all 鱼头 or 鱼片米粉 lovers!

Over the weekend, we spent it at my parents' and as usual, Mum pampered us with good ol' homecooked food!! Love love love Mum's cooking because she really takes the time and effort to whip up our favourites as well as create newer and tastier dishes. We had the luxury of enjoying her 杂酱面 which is always so so so so well-received whenever she cooks and sells this at the church canteen. Dan remarked that Mum could go set up a stall to sell this and i couldn't agree more!!

Dan and I used to maintain a website together 6 or 7 years' back, which had a list of all our favourite food hangouts. It's not hard to see that both of us are foodies, judging from our sizes but i must admit we've toned down alot (due to age and slowing metabolism) and we don't eat like hungry hippos nowadays. Anyways, it's a shame the website is no longer around but i'll try to compile the list again when i have more spare time!

But yeah, food, as with music, has always been an integral part of our relationship. We're always on a lookout for good food. At one point, Dan swore he would taste all the Spaghetti Marinara in Singapore and decide which his favourite was. I can't remember how many places we've tried but for great tasting pasta, we always head back to Cafe 211 at Holland Village (best Spaghetti Vongole in town!) or Da Paolo. Oh, and the garlic prawn pasta from Coffee Club - one of our favourite comfort food too!

Last Saturday saw us heading down to Ghim Moh Hawker Centre for our dose of chicken rice and chwee kuay (most fantastic chwee kuay in town)!! That's my home was before i shifted to CCK and i love that place to death because of all the great memories i had there - bringing my rabbits for a romp downstairs when i was a kid, getting chased by a huge black dog while walking to the bus stop with Sis, standing by the window waiting for Dad's green Ford, making luncheon meat buns with Mum and Sis, the long walks with my first dog Bonnie and of course, the NUS days when Dan would send me home and we'd buy ice-cream from the Mama shop every other day and chat while we eat.

So many beautiful memories that are still vivid even as time passes by and I hope they all stay with me till my very last breath.....

Sorry i digressed! Must be the low blood glucose making me all nostalgic and emo!! Dan and Scooby are here so that means dinner time!!! Tata!
